Carter Born In Sin. I have been reading through a book that has many Scriptural References and is very good. But some of the forewords written by a well known evangelist rather puzzles me. I will just quote some of what he writes. "The Bible says that we have been separated and alienated from God because we have willfully turned our backs on Him and are determined to run our lives without Him".This is what the Bible means by sin-choosing our way instead of God's way, and not giving Him His rightful place in our lives." First of all, all mankind have inherited sin and death from their first parents Adam and Eve. "... as through one man, sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned", Romans 5:12. So we are all born in sin. This Gospel Age is (A) day of salvation (Diaglott 2 Cor. 6:2) for the small flock who will be given immortality, life within one self when Jesus in the near future will bring that full reward with him. But in the future 1000 years of Jesus ruling over the earth, there will be (the) day of salvation, Luke 3:6, Rev 20: 4,6, when the Father will pour out of His Holy Spirit, and all will be drawn to Jesus, John 12:32. How different will that future Kingdom Age be from this Gospel Age During this Gospel Age eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him. But God hath revealed them unto us by His Spirit, for the Spirit searchest all things, yea, the deep things of God., 1 Cor. 2:10-14 for what man knoweth the things of man, save the spirit of man which is in him; even so the things of God knoweth no man but the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God.That we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Spirit teacheth, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. During the coming Kingdom Age, everyone, apart from the small flock, must come back from their sleep in death. Then if they accept Jesus as their Saviour, repent and confess of their sins, they will attain to eternal life on this earth. As Isaiah 35 tells us "And a highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called the way of holiness; and unclean shall not pass over it and it shall be for those, the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein". 3578591AF 25% off all HANDBAGS 2 Geange Street, Upper Hutt. NATHALIE NORRIS, Upper Hutt Hunch proven correct I am familiar with the Akatarawa Rd-State Highway 2 intersection (Leader, May 18) because the first time I was house-hunting in Upper Hutt, I avoid looking at houses whose locations meant I had to negotiate this intersection. I considered it very dangerous then. My hunch has been proven correct. Even now, I discourage friends and family from buying houses whose locations would mean negotiating this intersection. As noted in the article, it is suggested that because this is a very dangerous intersection people having a little more patience would help in alleviating some of the danger. But I guess the time for patience is past because there are just some people who have NO patience. It is probably time to use the language of the ignorant (would have used a much more vulgar word than ignorant but it is probably not suited for this medium). How about installing traffic lights then, or at the very least a roundabout? This would also help slow down traffic in this area (70kmh area) which in turn would help motorists coming out of the side streets and the petrol station located towards the Upper Hutt CBD. N JAURIGUE, Maoribank Serious action needed I am writing regarding the defacing of Upper Hutt by taggers who continually desecrate every surface they can get their hands on. Having been born and brought up in Upper Hutt, it saddens and sickens me to see it degraded in such a way. I am amazed at the lengths these delinquents go to to mark their territory, risking their lives by climbing overhead railway bridges and buildings. It is a shame they can t direct all this enthusiasm and energy into bettering themselves and becoming productive, contributing citizens of Upper Hutt. Of course, they probably won t be reading this letter as it seems they can t read judging by the unintelligible scribble they bandy around Upper Hutt. I am extremely frustrated at the inaction taken by the police who surely must be aware of the hot spots targeted by these taggers. These areas need to be patrolled at the times when these taggers are most prolific, ie weekends. It must be extremely disheartening for those citizens who religiously clean up the spraying left by these taggers only to find their good work has been targeted once again. Some serious action needs to be taken by both the police and citizens of Upper Hutt before it is too late and we plunge permanently into a ghetto-like society with a high criminal element.L BONHAM, Maoribank Kind people still exist To the kind lady who shouted my grandson a takeaway hot chocolate at about 4pm on Tuesday, May 10, when my eftpos card would not work at Mcdonald s due to being offline, my most grateful thanks. You made a young boy, who had just had his flu inoculation, very happy. Kind people do still exist. ANN DEVLIN, Upper Hutt Thanks Thanks to the people of Upper Hutt who gave so generously to our Red Shield Appeal. Your donations will help the work of the Salvation Army. Thank you to the management of The Mall, Countdown Upper Hutt, Countdown Maidstone, New World Silverstream and Mitre 10 Mega Upper Hutt for allowing our collectors on your premises. My thanks also goes to the Upper Hutt City Council for allowing collectors to stand outside shop frontages on Main St. Without all of your assistance our appeal would not have been so successful. Our work with the needy continues to be a high priority in today s hard times. Food bank assistance in Upper Hutt has more than doubled in the last 24 months. Your generosity will help those who are struggling to get by. The amount raised in Upper Hutt was $8139.90. Thank you for making this year s giving a significant one. God bless you. BRENTON MILLAR, captain Thanks Upper Hutt, we ROCK! I would like to thank everyone who donated items, sold tickets and bought tickets. Thank you to the businesses that helped by donating their time and resources to create the tickets, posters, fliers and advertising. Thanks to my family and Configure family for your constant support and hard work. Without all of you Upper Hutt we wouldn t have been able to raise the $7315 for the Red Cross to help Christchurch.
