By KAROLINE TUCKEY One of Upper Hutt's funniest residents is back in town, after sharing his humour with the rest of the world. Upper Hutt clown Nigel Mander, also known as Puzzle, has spent the last seven months travelling through Pakistan, Egypt, Turkey, the United Kingdom, Brazil and Australia. He began his world tour in 1991, but after illness led to a five-week stay in a hospital in Nairobi, Kenya, had to put the rest of the trip on hold, until late last year. Among the highlights of the trip was a per- formance to a large private function in an ancient fort in the Thar desert in Pakistan, and celebrating Christmas in Turkey. Mr Mander was also among hundreds of clowns at a festival of clowning in England and performed in Leicester for red-nose day, and then in Wales. I didn't get Wales stamped in my passport, but it's the 14th country I've performed in,'' he says with satisfaction. Mr Mander has invitations to return to many of the countries, and says another world clowning tour could one day be in the pipeline.
