FROM Page 10 EKERS' WEEK However it isn t the whole story. Fluoride at low dose strengthens tooth enamel against acids in the mouth. I suspect that the hideous health problems linked to fluoride are all the result of high exposure. We must compare apples with apples, and I d be interested to see some numbers. B C BARRATT, Heretaunga Thanks Congratulations and a thank you to the bakery of Pak n Save Upper Hutt for coming up with a mini plain loaf of bread at $1.81 for this toast size. For people living on their own like myself, this mini loaf is excellent and convenient. I m looking forward to knowing if the bakery will also bake a mini loaf in wholemeal. Many thanks, I believe your bakery is tops! MARGARET T ANDERSON, Upper Hutt Freemasons donate gifts By JIMMY NESS Upper Hutt s Freemasons have been fundraising tirelessly and recently gave the community sev- eral useful items. The Trentham and Mangaroa Lodges presented Somes Island with a defibrillator last Friday. Earlier in the year they also donated a multimedia suite with a projector to Mangaroa School and an interactive whiteboard, valued at several thousand dollars, to Totara Park Kindergarten. Former Lodge Mangaroa mas- ter and long-time Freemason, Bob Rule says charity is a large part of the Freemasons work. It s just about helping our fel- low man, and if we can raise the money we will do that. It s hard to get an ambulance all the way to Somes Island. Unfortunately we have become known as a secret society, but that s not true. It s all about mak- ing good men better. It s a way of including good morals in your life. The national Freemason grand master Selwyn Cooper also visited Upper Hutt last Tuesday to pres- ent former Senior Sergeant Peter Doyle with a badge to commemor- ate 50 years as a Freemason.
