Guard had PTSD, court told A Rimutaka prison manager convicted of serious drug charges was suffering from stress after he discovered the suicides of several prisoners, Wellington District Court was told at his sentencing last week. Jeffrey Mark Reid, 45, was sentenced to one year’s home detention for cultivation of cannabis and conspiracy to supply. Reid was diagnosed with post- traumatic stress disorder and depression after he found three prisoners who killed themselves. He was also assaulted by another prisoner. The court was told these events made him vulnerable to a prisoner who coerced him into growing 19 cannabis plants at his Wellington home in 2009. Judge Peter Butler said a for- ensic psychiatrist thought his mental health problems had left him vulnerable to the prisoner’s suggestions. Reid had been on leave in 2008 and said the prisoner had threatened his family. Police found a bedroom with polythene on the walls, halogen lights, air conditioners and power regulators, Judge Butler said. Five bins contained 19 plants, some of them seedings. Reid was also ordered to pay $3800 reparation for the damage to his Cuba St flat. Two other people were sentenced earlier for their part in the operation. Lawyer Mike Antunovic said Reid regretted his decision and could only say he was sorry to his colleagues. Woman pleads guilty to theft charges DISTRICT COURT A woman appeared in the Upper Hutt District Court last week for stealing several items including hand cream, seven watches, a handbag, a wallet, a cellphone, a camera and a wallet. Jessie Lumby pleaded guilty to charges of theft. Prosecuting Sergeant Ian McDonald said the watches were taken from Trentham’s Shell Petrol Station. Four of them had not been recovered. Lumby would not go into detail about the crime but admitted responsibility, duty lawyer Reg Newell said. ‘‘She explains that she is a drug addict. She was heavily under the influence at the time of the offending. ‘‘The key point is the defend- ant is willing to pay reparation. She has a new attitude toward things.’’ Lumby said she was receiving treatment for her addiction in Lower Hutt and had been clean since February. Judge David McKegg congratulated Lumby on her progress. ‘‘It takes courage to do that and I admire you. It shows that you are a strong person.’’ She was sentenced to 100 hours’ community work, six months’ supervision and ordered to pay $1600 in reparations. Alcohol limit reduced to zero for youngsters Police warn that from August 7, the alcohol limit for drivers under the age of 20 reduces to zero. Carter There will be many nations on eartn when Jesus comes to rule over the world during the future 1000 years. In rev. 20:5 we read “ But the rest of the dead did not live till the 1000 years were ended. This is the first resurrection”. Also there are some people who believe that after the coming great tribulation which will be cut short, otherwise no flesh would survive, that there will be no more nations. That through this great time of trouble all the wicked will be destroyed. In the Diaglott that I have, it says to omitt Rev 20:5, as if this text was true, it would do away with all the wonderful times on this earth when all those millions will be brought forth from the grave to hear of the salvation through our Lord. The following Scriptures show there will be many nations on this earth when Jesus starts ruling. “He shall speak peace unto the nations”, Zech. 8:10. “And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering that covereth all peoples, and the veil that is spread over all nations”, Isa. 25:6,7. Surely to destroy the veil that is over all peoples and nations, the nations would have to really exist there under the veil. Also the new world is to be lighted by the glory of God:“And the nations will walk by means of its light”, Rev. 21:24. “And cast him (Satan) into the Abyss, and shut up and sealed over him, so that he might deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years be ended. And will go forth to decieve the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Rev. 20:3,8. “In thee shall all the nations be blessed”,Acts 3:8 “And to him that overcometh and keepeth my works unto the end, will I give power over the nations”, Rev. 2:26. “After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne”, Rev. 7:9..Points to the time at the end of the one thousand years when the people off all nations will stand before the throne. “..for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgements are made manifest”, Rev. 15:4. Through Adam’s sin all go into Adamic Death, not Second Death. Some believe that all the wicked of the human race will go into the Second Death during the future coming tribulation. This would mean for countless millions, they have or will go directly into the Second Death. Nowhere is there a Scriptural basis for this. Whether we like it or not, all mankind is born under the condemnation of sin, and consequently the wages for this sin is Adamic Death, or first death. When we die we go to Hell, the grace or the pit but, the whole human race from Adam to the last person born in this age has been redeemed from that state through the ransom sacrifice of Jesus Christ. “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive”: 1 Cor. 15:21,22. “For since by man (Adam) came death, by man (Jesus) also came the resurrection of the dead”, 1 Cor. 15:21. 3578591AK
