Upper Hutt Leader : August 10th 2011
5 UPPER HUTT LEADER, AUGUST 10, 2011 NEWS IGC Dorel Ltd wishes to advise customers there is a voluntary recall of the Motherʼs Choice 3 in 1 Car Seat and the Baby Wise 3 in 1 Car Seat sold through New Zealand Outlets: SuperCheap Auto, Repco, Farmers, The Warehouse, Smith City and specialty stores between November 2007 and April 2011. Name of products: Motherʼs Choice 3 in 1 Car Seat & Baby Wise 3in1CarSeat Description: The car seats convert from a car harness seat to a booster seat, to a booster cushion and are available in a range colours. Models: Motherʼs Choice: LB515 Baby Wise: LB513 Potential Hazard: As a very small number of car seats have come in for repair due to a malfunctioning buckle and harness adjuster strap. IGC Dorel has decided to take the precautionary measure to replace all 3 in 1 Car seat buckles and straps as required. The malfunctioning buckles / harness adjuster straps could make it difficult to secure and unbuckle a child quickly in an emergency. Remedy: IGC Dorel recommends that customers should not use the car seat if there is any sign of buckle or harness malfunction. All customers should contact IGC Dorel Customer Service as soon as possible to arrange to have a new buckle or harness adjuster strap installed, or alternatively return the car seats to the place of purchase for a full refund. We sincerely regret any inconvenience that this voluntary safety recall may cause. Thank you for your cooperation. Designs are under wraps until the event. Photo: ROSEMARY McLENNAN Victorian steam theme: Steampunk Breast Pumps, Tracey's 2010 entry. The Rugby World Cup has inspired Tracey Stratmore's entry in WOW. The Silverstream woman's ball gown made of green rugby balls has made the final of the Air New Zealand Kiwi icons section of the Brancott Estate World of Wear- able Art Awards, to be held this month rather than September because of the World Cup. Research towards Mrs Strat- more's latest creation began after last year's show in September. Since March she has worked five hours a day and all weekend on it. This is the fifth time Mrs Stratmore has entered WOW and the third year she has made the finals. The garments that made past finals were CanCan Tutu and a man bra'' (in the same year) and last year Steampunk Breast Pumps. CanCan Tutu, with a can- cer treatment theme, was a sea of pink gerberas decorated with Barbie doll heads, some shaved. The man bra'' was made from walnuts plus pistachio nuts drilled with fine holes to look like lace. The nuts were glued to coco- nut halves which were trimmed with possum fur. Steampunk Breast Pumps mixed the concept of breast pumps with the Victorian steam era and mechanical watch and clock parts. Mrs Stratmore was delighted when it was chosen by WOW for their museum in Nelson, where the show began. She makes large, decorated glass drawing pins (on sale at Archibald's) and steampunk jewellery for a living as well as researching projects for construc- tion companies. Each year she says never again'' but has always succumbed to the challenge of a new creation. Every year I say I'm not doing this again.'' Because her work is so specialised there is no-one she can go to for advice. Already she is thinking about ideas for next year's competition. Twice she entered two garments in the one show but since last year has reduced it to one because of the huge amount of time involved. Mrs Stratmore does not have a sewing background and finds elec- trical cable ties a useful alterna- tive. Also useful is her background in the miniatures department at Weta on King Kong, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Lord of the Rings.
