It is the only band from the Wellington region to make the finals. The Velvet Regime is a four-piece indie-alt band, with two members whose past Smo- kefreerockquest experience taught them the importance of stage presence, style and image. Band members are Nigel Martinez, Stefan Poad, Joel Averes and Jason Reder. The final is in Hamilton on September 17. Region's home prices still slip Upper Hutt house values continue to fall, along with those of the whole region. Quotable Value says Upper Hutt values have dropped 3.1 per cent in July, compared to a decrease of 3.5 per cent in June. The average decrease for the Wellington region was 2.7 per cent. National property values have steadied, according to the QV resi- dential property index for July. Nationwide, property values have steadied over the past month and are now only 0.4 per cent below the same time last year, and remain 5.2 per cent below the market peak of 2007,'' said QV.co.nz research director Jonno Ingerson. Over the past three months values have increased in many parts of the country, with particu- lar strength in the Canterbury region and parts of Auckland,'' Mr Ingerson said. Across the wider Auckland area values have increased 2.4 per cent since January, and as a result are now 1.9 per cent above last year and only 0.6 per cent below the previous market peak of late 2007. This growth in values over the past few months has not been evenly spread across the supercity.'' The old Auckland city is grow- ing the most, but there are modest increases or static prices else- where. Wellington is the only main cen- tre where values continue to decline, dropping 1.8 per cent since January, and 2.7 per cent in 12 months. Possible public sector restructuring remains a damp- ening factor.
