The church has organised a number of import- ant events during the week, which runs from Sept- ember 11 to 18. A special morning service will be held at 9am on September 11 to celebrate earth s natural biodiversity. Upper Hutt Forest & Bird treasurer Graham Bellamy says the church will be decorated with native plants and posters to show what New Zea- land has and the fact that it needs to be conserved, before it is lost to future generations. There will be two guest speakers. Porirua City Council harbour strategy co-ordinator Keith Cal- der will be speaking at the Upper Hutt Library about his Porirua Harbour recovery project. This will be held at 7pm on September 13. Fish & Game chief executive Bryce Johnson will be speaking at the church on September 15, at 7.30pm, discussing the Hutt River and how it has evolved over the years for recreational fishers. We are running these evenings and the Sunday service, as a community-based church and every- body is welcome is to come and join us and learn about our local areas, Mr Bellamy says. We all enjoy the parks, reserves and outdoor facilities that are around our city and we do need to make sure that they are preserved and maintained.
