Trentham Gardens' hospitality and customer services manager, Stephen Chamberlain, says Trentham Campervan Central' is on track to host the vans and inject about 1000 visitor days into the local economy. Racecourse management has been working with the Upper Hutt and Wellington City Councils on the plan for the past year. Mr Chamberlain said Trentham offers a secure site where people have easy access to trains into Wellington. The highlight will be the Friday, October 7 race day, which will be community-oriented and include cultural performances and a hangi organised by Orongomai Marae. Local businesses and craftspeople are invited to have stalls on October 7, call Stephen Berryman at the racecourse 528 9611. Artists Katherine Morrison and Leanne Taylor have new work on display in the Vector Gallery at Expressions. Both women responded to a brief asking artists to create work in response to Rugby World Cup mania, and the result is a team of hot water-bottle covers and a group of swandri fabric rugby balls. During the exhibition, Expressions is hosting an old-fashioned craft get together called Let's Get it Crafted in Here! at 2pm this Saturday. Everyone is welcome to take their latest crafty project and share ideas with others. Craft Fever is open until Labour Day. Cup mania
