From their home in Wellington, piano accordion husband and wife duo June and Gary Stratton return with another varied pro- gramme that shows off their musi- cal abilities. David Dell, the show's organ- iser, says that the audience was spellbound by the Strattons' per- formance earlier this year and he had received numerous requests for them to return. Joining the Strattons on Sunday is Christopher Salmon of Lower Hutt, sharing his passion for music on the cello. When I first heard Christopher practising with Clare Derby, I found myself listening with tears in my eyes,'' says Mr Dell. Christopher's ability to communi- cate through his cello is extraord- inary.'' Silverstream pianists Clare Derby and John Morrison have become an institution at the shows,'' says Mr Dell. John and Clare have so much fun together on stage. Their vitality and energy is infectious, which is attested to by the excited chatter around the room as they prepare to play one of their famous duets.'' The Around The Piano shows, which now happen every second month, also feature excerpts of the stories behind the music and great community sing- ing. Heretaunga Christian Centre auditorium, 51 Lane St, Upper Hutt, 2pm till 3.30pm, senior citizens/ students $10, adults/waged $12, no bookings required, pay at the door. Supermodel on top Supermodel: Heading to Upper Hutt. Wellington pop-rockers Supermodel -- support act for Dragon at the Upper Hutt Cossie Club on Friday, October 14 -- hit number one in the iTunes rock charts with their debut indepen- dent album To The Mountains on the first day of release recently. And it did not stop there. On July 29, Supermodel entered the IMNZ charts at num- ber four, and landed number 37 on the Official RIANZ top 40 album chart. Lead singer and guitarist Mark Hanify's musical vision to climb the mountain'' is fast becoming a reality. The colourful album was recorded last year in Britain at Modern World Studios with acclaimed producer Greg Haver (Manic Street Preachers, Mel C, Opshop), before the band hit the summer festivals, appearing at Rhythm and Vines, Homegrown, and London's famous 100 Club last year. Artist Max Thompson was commissioned to draw the album cover. Located on Great Bar- rier Island, Max spent months digitally dra- wing images of the band (sister, Rose Hanify, piano, vocals; Mike White, bass; Tony Kemp, drums), as well as fans, family and fictional characters straight out of Supermodel's songs. The result is a visual story which reflects songwriter Mark Hanify's musical world. Studio 22, who entertain at the Upper Hutt Cossie Club on Friday night. Friday night line-up
