To add to the festivities Upper Hutt has lots of great events happening in the coming weeks: October 1 to 16, Darcy Nicholas Land of My Ancestors at Expressions. Tomorrow, Orongomai Marae open day, 9am till 3pm. Tomorrow, Friday and Thursday, October 13, Kaitoke Regional Park guided walks. Friday, NZ Festival at Trentham Racecourse and Wellington Racing Club meeting. Friday, Upper Hutt Cossie Club s Sports Legends Dinner, with Kirwan and Campese. Saturday, Multi Ethnic Football Tournament, Awakairangi Park. October 9, 16 and 23, Silver Stream Railway heritage train rides. October 10, 17 and 24, Trentham Camp Golf Club, $10 day. October 15, Wellington Speedway, season opening night. October 18, NZ School of Music lunch time concert at Expressions. October 25, Piers Lane at Expressions. October 29, Upper Hutt Rotary Fantastic Fireworks. The marae has also arranged for a hangi lunch to be provided at Trentham s Rugby Festival, at the racecourse, this Friday. The hangi lunch at Trentham needs to be booked by tomorrow. I am sure many people, have enjoyed walks in Kaitoke Regional Park, and would consider themselves knowledgeable on New Zealand flora and fauna. Gain amazing insight into the unique, ancient rain forest that is Kaitoke Regional Park from the park s very knowledgeable and entertaining ranger. You can join ranger Steve on one- hour free, guided walks tomorrow, Friday and Thursday, October 13 from 10am. The walks are suitable for most fitness levels. With an influx of camper vans into Upper Hutt, the i-SITE Visitor Centre has had inquiries about the location of the public dump station. It is now located at the Silverstream Amenities Reserve on Eastern Hutt Rd, just beyond Silverstream Railway Bridge, on the right hand side. Entertaining night of rugby Eight Upper Hutt sporting legends will be announced at the Upper Hutt Cossie Club s sports dinner this Friday night which features guest speakers and World Cup winners John Kirwan and David Campese. Judges mayor Wayne Guppy and former All Black Bob Lendrum selected the eight sportspeo- ple and a number will be in attendance. Kirwan, who coached the Japanese World Cup team, will provide an interesting insight into the World Cup while Campese is close to many Wall- aby players and his thoughts on who is going to win the cup will create huge interest. MC is the highly entertaining Mike Copeland while Auckland comedian Michael Jones further enhances an exciting night s programme. Local entertainer Jade Eru, who has sung the national anthem at Westpac Stadium, will also perform.
