Diners come first at Furnace Delightful dining: Customers can enjoy their meal in Furnace's sunny and open outdoor area. Simply delicious: Furnace are renowned for their tasty meals and large portion sizes. ' It's a friendly family environment. Customer service is imperative ' Robyn Maathuis Furnace owner Furnace has a reputation for tasty food, affordable prices and excellent customer service. Owner Robyn Maathuis took over the Tote Bar complex, which includes the restaurant, in December after working as a loyal staff mem- ber for 10 years. Their large menu includes brunch, lunch or dinner and they also have a wide range of wines, beers and other beverages. Furnace are well known for their wood-fire gourmet pizza such as the Original CCB chicken with cranberry and brie or meat- lovers with salami, bacon, chorizo and smoked ham. They are reasonably priced at $15 and kids can also build their own pizza for $8 with a range of toppings, and watch it cook in the wood-fire oven. Other meals include the $4 breakfast with two eggs on toast with jam or the 250-gram eye fillet with mushroom gratin at $28. All their desserts are homemade and the $7.50 banoffee pie with icecream is another favourite. Robyn says they will always try their best to cater to customer tastes. We are flexible, if someone wants something off the brunch menu for dinner they are more than welcome. Furnace also have cabinet food and make a great coffee. Customers can ring in advance and have their meals ready for them when they arrive. On Tuesday and Wednesday from noon till 5pm you can buy one item off the brunch menu and receive the second half price. Diners can also receive a free coffee, tea or hot choco- late on Thursday and Friday. You can enjoy your meal in the front or back garden bar, and Fur- nace also have three flat-screen televisions showing the World Cup rugby matches. There are also a range of special packages available for small and large groups. The backyard barbecue buffet is $25 per person and includes a selec- tion of meats, sweet temptations and salads. You could also try the delicious gourmet table buffet with an entree of Marlborough whole mussels in red Thai curry sauce and a seared scotch fillet with blue vein cheese for $45. Furnace can fit 60 seated guests or 100 standing. They are open from Tuesday to Friday from noon until late and on Saturday and Sunday from 10am until late. On Monday the restaurant is closed, but can host large bookings. They are also in the Entertain- ment Book and you can bring the coupon in for a 25 per cent discount up to $30.
