A garden has been created at Upper Hutt's Plunket rooms in memory of former nurse, the late Maureen Noble. Her name is well-known to hun- dreds of Upper Hutt families. Her 27 years of service as a dedicated Plunket nurse has meant that for some families up to three generations benefited from her wisdom. We still use Maureen's hot tips for tricky babies,'' said Beth Moroney. Maureen passing away was a great loss. She was an inspiration to us all. Now it just seems we should have something to remember her by.'' Which is where Mitre 10 Mega Upper Hutt stepped in and created the Maureen Noble Memorial Garden. Amy Blake, from Mitre 10 Mega, gladly got stuck in on the day and said, It's a random act of love' to remember a woman who spent her life sharing wisdom and love with hundreds of Upper Hutt mums and their brand new babies. We are privileged to be involved''. The garden was officially received by kaiawhina Beth Moroney, community Karitane Karren Bakhos, volunteer co- ordinator Felicity Fogarty and Plunket nurses Paula Minching- ton and Pauline Smith, who all now gladly carry the mantle. Mitre 10 does random acts of love'' to support the local com- munity. At the beginning of spring staff handed out thousands of free sunflower seeds. They have also supported an upgrade at the Upper Hutt Rugby Club with paint and labour and helped Tren- tham and St Brendan's Schools. There is no way for organis- ations to apply for help -- Mitre 10 staff simply act when they see an opportunity to help.
