Image: ANNE TAYLOR A group exhibition, which brings together the artists from the Main Artery Arts Trail, is opening at Expressions on Saturday. Sixteen people including glass artists, sculptors, furniture-makers, illustrators, printmakers, painters, jewellers, potters and stained glass artists will be travelling over the Rimutaka Hill to Upper Hutt with a diverse collection of work that reflects the Wairarapa region. The MainARTery stretches from Greytown to Eketahuna and is the Wairarapa s sole open studio art trail. It represents many of the region s established working artists and creates the opportunity for the public to meet practising artists in their own creative environments. MainARTery was the brainchild of a group of artists, including Sean Crawford, who gave power to the con- cept in 2006. The Wairarapa Art Trail was officially launched with an exhibition at a gallery space in the heart of Carterton on 2006. Today, the Art Trail works as a co-operative of pro- fessional artists who still practise the original concept of being committed to having their studios available to the public. With such a range of artworks on display, this exhibition will have something for everyone and is a wonderful opportunity to get something unique for Christmas, says Expressions exhibition officer Christina Doherty-McGregor. All works in this exhibition are for sale. Art Trans- plant is on until November 27 in the Vector Gallery.
