Data centre takes shape Up it goes: A building begins to take shape as work continues on the first significant new venture at the Alexander Industrial Park complex on former General Motors land. Photo: COLIN WILLIAMS By COLIN WILLIAMS Revera, an IT infrastructure company, is building a $40 million data centre in Alexander Rd as the company moves to supply computer infrastructure to gov- ernment agencies over the next 10 years. The 4000 square metre building is set for completion in April and will join the company s sister facilities in Tawa, Auck- land, Christchurch and Hamilton. Revera has won a major contract for IT infrastructure as a service for the Government s Department of Internal Affairs in a development seen as a major win for the centre s long-term viability. The addition is a significant milestone in the continued build-out of our capacity, Revera s general manager business development, Robin Cockayne says. Upper Hutt mayor Wayne Guppy welcomed the company s plans and arrival. We are excited Revera has seen the value that now exists in Upper Hutt s infrastructure, making it a viable choice for hi-tech, high-demand service provision in a safe and future-proof platform for building on. The council played an integral part in the speed with which Revera was able to begin construction, Mr Guppy says.
