Generally nothing distinguishes the Father from the Son, and the matter is left to the judgement of the reader, and indicated by the construction of the sentences except like when the word theos is used twice in the same clause. The Greek Prepositive Article is then sometimes used, so as to give the affect of the God in contrast with a God 1 C or. 8:6 says that by nature there is only one God, the Supreme Being, and this is true as it refers to Jehovah as one God, the Supreme Being, and separately, one Jesus Christ, two individual Beings. In other instances such as 2 Cor. 4:4 which tells of the god of this world, which is Satan of course, and it refers to the Greek word " Theos 2316 Strong", the same word as applies to the Supreme God and Jesus. In the Hebrew, Strong 410, el, or 430 elohiym, can be also applied to Jehovah, to any diety, mighty ones, even applied to judges, magistrates, angels etc. When Thomas said to Jesus " My Lord and my God", he certainly knew it wasn't the Father he was speaking to, as he was in heaven, and often of course Jesus would speak of the Father who is in heaven, and constantly prayed to him there. Thomas was aclaiming Jesus as his God, or mighty Saviour and Lord. It is quite interesting to note how Jehovah the (All-Mighty) God, (Elohim) is contrasted with other Elohim (might ones). Psalm 86:6-8. "Give ear O Jehovah unto my prayer..among all the gods (elohim, mighty ones), there is none like unto thee" Psalm 50 :1. "The mighty God (lit. -- God of gods-el, elohim), the mighty of the mighty Jehovah, hath spoken". Psalm 29:1,2. "Give unto Jehovah O ye mighty (el-gods), ascribe unto Jehovah glory and strength. Give unto Jehovah the honour of His name and worship Jehovah in the beauty of holiness Genesis 17:1. "Jehovah appeared to Abraham and said unto him, I am the Almighty God (el)". Exodus 115:!!. "Who is like unto thee, O Jehovah, among the gods (el-might ones)". Genesis 14:22. "Abraham said, I have lifted up my hand unto Jehovah, the most high God (el). possessor of heaven and earth". Photo: ROSEMARY McLENNAN By ROSEMARY McLENNAN Advance voting starts today in Upper Hutt and Stokes Valley. It has been a tight turnaround from the close of nominations last Tuesday, their official announce- ment on Wednesday and the voting forms printed by today for locals who are unable to get to a polling place on election day, Saturday, November 26. The advance polling place in Upper Hutt's Main St is the same as last election, the former Hannah's building near Logan St. In Stokes Valley it is the com- munity hall in Bowers St. Both sites will also be open on election day. Rimutaka electorate returning officer Lloyd May says election day polling place changes this year include the Timberlea Com- munity Centre for the first time. This election is the second time Riverstone Terraces have had their own polling place. It will be a double garage in Riverstone Terraces' Kirton Dr. The number of potential voters in Riverstone Terraces this elec- tion is about 900, up considerably from 350 last election, and likely to be a combination of new houses and teenagers turning 18. In Silverstream, the St Margaret's Church booth has been dropped because of a wedding there on election day. Mr May says Silverstream School is nearby and the suburb had two polling places because an old election boundary ran between them. In Royal St, the polling place moves from the Scout Hall to St Joseph's School hall where there is more parking. Mr May is delighted with the recent opening of a new hall at Mangaroa School which will be the polling place instead of a class- room. He says the co-operation from locals to secure polling places around the electorate has been absolutely wonderful''. 3758718AA
