Nine in the running for crown By ROSEMARY McLENNAN A vote of a different sort will take place at the Upper Hutt Cossie Club this Saturday evening when the winner of Miss Hutt Valley 2011 is decided. Nine young women represen- ting Hutt Valley businesses have been nominated. The winner will receive a dia- mante crown, which she keeps, and automatic entry into the Miss Universe New Zealand compe- tition. She will also receive a gown, coaching for the Miss Universe New Zealand competition and many other prizes and vouchers. Prizes for second and third placegetters include tiaras they can keep. There will also be prizes for the Miss supreme gown, photogenic, charity queen and friendship categories. In the lead-up to Saturday the nine entrants have made appearances at fashion and char- ity events around the Hutt Valley. MC will be Upper Hutt s Angelique Poczwa. Miss Universe New Zealand pageant director Val Lott will be chief judge. Photos of the nine entrants can be viewed online at emotif.co.nz. Tickets for the dinner and show are limited to 280. About 200 have been sold already. They are on sale at the club. Dinner and show is $65, show only $35. Buggy stroll Sport Wellington and Greater Wellington are holding a buggy walk at Harcourt Park on Thursday, December 1. The walk follows the stopbank of the Hutt River before crossing the Totara Park Bridge and going up the side of the Hutt River Trail and back to Harcourt Park. People taking part should meet on the grass area by the car park at Harcourt Park, from 10am for a 10.30am start. Here you can enjoy a compli- mentary coffee from Caffe L affare, and chat with other mums and dads before the walk.
