FREE Te Marua Golf Club is holding the 33rd 72 Hole Masters Tournament from 27 -- 30 December 2011. The Te Marua Masters is modelled on the Augusta Masters with the winners of each playing division receiving a "player's jacket" for their victory. The tournament caters for all handicap divisions for both men and women. Alex Walters who was on the steering group of the initial tournament/concept has played in all 33 Masters and is currently the junior champion! Haupai Puha is the current senior champion and has won the last four Masters but Haupai will have some stiff competition looking at this year's playing feld. There is expected to be a full feld of 160 players taking part. Further land was purchased in 1966 and the course was extended to 18 holes. Te Marua Golf Course is an easy walking course on gently undulating land adjacent to the Hutt River.
