This well-appointed upholstery workshop was started in 1994 by Dave after he completed his training in the specialised restoration of antique furniture. since then, Dave’s Upholstery have become specialists in all vehicle and furniture upholstery. Dave and roger are a highly qualified upholstery team, with over 50 years combined in the trade. they both have experience with all types of furniture, boat interiors and also all vehicles. Dave also repairs and restores antique furniture and is probably one of the few upholstery specialists with the knowledge to rebuild and restore antique furniture using original methods, including horse- hair and flax construction. Dave’s Upholstery have trained and skilled craftsmen capable of recovering modern lounge and dining furniture including lounge suits, chairs, window seats, patio furniture and cushions. In addition they regularly repair and recover office furniture. However, Dave’s Upholstery are also highly skilled in all vehicle upholstery including modern car head linings, seat repairs, interior leather repairs, door trims and carpets and boat interiors. But like Bristols – they don’t just stop there – Dave’s Upholstery is also highly skilled in all vintage and veteran car upholstery, which often requires intricate leather and button work. They are also capable of replacing convertible roofs from modern cars and also vintage/ veteran cars. over the years they have also completed the interiors of several concourse show cars, including the leather seats and door trims. However, Dave’s Upholstery offer a furniture repair service – including chair or lounge suite legs, dining chairs etc. Their craftsmen can repair or rebuild just about anything. Dave’s most interesting claim to fame is that he recovered the seats and constructed a new convertible roof in the first ever car to come to Upper Hutt (a 1908 Holsman, owned by the Barton family who settled Trentham). they stock a wide variety of fabrics in their show-room and can source or order fabric as required. They stock a large selection of vinyls and foam, lounge suite fabrics, car interior leather, car carpets and head linings.
